Introduction

Hippograph (“we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Data Collection

Hippograph collects the following types of data:

• Events: Timestamps, notes, and values you record for various event types

• Event types: Custom event types you create, including names, colors, icons, and value configurations

• Graphs: Visualizations you create to analyze your events

• Settings: App preferences and filter configurations

## Third-Party Integrations

Strava Integration

If you choose to connect your Strava account, we collect:

• OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens (stored securely on your device)

• Basic athlete information (name, profile picture)

• Activity data (runs, rides) that you choose to sync

This data is used solely to import your activities into Hippograph. We do not share your Strava data with any third parties. You can disconnect your Strava account at any time from the app settings.

Apple Health Integration

If you grant permission, Hippograph can read the following health data from Apple Health:

• Workouts (running, cycling, walking)

• Active energy burned

• Distance (walking, running, cycling)

• Heart rate

• Step count

• Sleep analysis

This data is used solely to import workouts into Hippograph. We do not write data to Apple Health, and we do not share your health data with any third parties. You can revoke access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health.

Data Storage

All your data is stored locally on your device using secure local storage. We do not transmit your data to any external servers or share it with third parties.

iCloud Backup (iOS only)

If you’re signed into iCloud on your iOS device, Hippograph automatically backs up your data to your personal iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud Key-Value Storage. This provides:

• Automatic backup of your events, event types, graphs, and settings

• Seamless sync across all your Apple devices signed into the same iCloud account

• No login required – uses your device’s existing iCloud account

Your iCloud-backed data is encrypted and stored in your personal iCloud storage space. We do not have access to your iCloud data. You can disable iCloud sync in iOS Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Hippograph.

On Android, all data remains stored locally on your device only.

Data Usage

We use your data solely to provide the core functionality of Hippograph:

• Storing and displaying your recorded events

• Creating visualizations and graphs of your data

• Importing activities from Strava and Apple Health (if you choose to connect these services)

• Providing filtering and analysis features

Data Sharing

We do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any third parties. Your data remains on your device and is never transmitted to external servers except when:

• You explicitly choose to sync activities from Strava (data flows directly between your device and Strava’s servers)

• You access Apple Health data (data flows directly between your device and Apple Health)

Data Security

Your data is stored securely on your device using platform-provided secure storage mechanisms. We implement appropriate technical measures to protect your data from unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access: You can view all your data within the app

• Export: You can export your events to CSV format from the app settings

• Delete: You can delete individual events or clear all data from the app settings

• Disconnect: You can disconnect Strava integration at any time

• Revoke permissions: You can revoke Apple Health permissions in iOS Settings

Children’s Privacy

Hippograph is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete such information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new privacy policy in the app. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes.
